About Montejo Consulting
Dr. Karin Montejo served in a variety of positions within the Miami-Dade Police Department. During her tenure of over 30 years, she served as the Chief of Administration and Technology. At the rank of Major, she served as a District Commander, Major of the Sexual Crimes Bureau and Domestic Crimes Bureau. As Captain, she was assigned to the Economic Crimes Bureau and her tenure as Lieutenant included assignments in Homicide, Training, and District Platoon Commander. As a Sergeant, she was assigned to the Professional Compliance Bureau (IA) and Court Services. Her tenure as an officer included road patrol, general investigations, narcotics investigation, and homicide investigations.
Chief Montejo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Florida, Master of Science in Public Administration from St. Thomas University and earned her Ph.D. from Lynn University in Global Leadership with a specialization in Corporate and Organizational Management. She is also a graduate of the Southern Police Institute (SPI).
Results from her dissertation, Success Factors of Women Who Have Achieved Positions of Command in Law Enforcement, was included in Critical Issues in Policing, Contemporary Readings, (Dunham & Alpert, 2010) 6th edition,
